The Wards Outside : New Single coming Jan 2024

As some might have read, we launched an experimental manifesto upon ourselves back in Nov 2023, of which you can read at https://sceptocrypt.com/2023/11/19/manifesto-2023/.

In line with this new vision, we dropped a comeback track “Oratorio Mortem 2 : The Unwanted Requiem” that caught some by surprise – despite our extreme metal past, this leaned more towards neo-folk, with parts even hinting at flamenco. All fits the new breadth of view that will be gradually explored by us, revealed by you!

Anyway, in January, you get to preview more of the sound we are working on, through a new song called “The Wards Outside”. Welcoming non-metal influences in disguise, this song will predominantly come across as a full-on extreme metal assault with insane vocals, roaring bass & drums, and raw abrasive guitars!
It’s a promise, so stay tuned to the tunes of the madmen!

“Two of the same, yet none of my game
Two of my game, only one’s the insane”
….. is a lyric off “The Wards Outside”!

Having previously flirted with French literature – namely Charles Baudelaire in our Amaranth so Puissant back in 1997 – this time we return with a homage to Antonin Artaud, widely recognized as a major figure of the European avant-garde. Known for his raw, surreal and transgressive work, this led to him being later institutionalised into an asylum!

In “The Wards Outside”, we re-imagine Artaud once released, asking society, in its continuous stance of operating madly in many an instance “am I the doolally, or is it society that is?”!

“You need not fear shame to play this game” (our website header) is a lyric taken from same song! Full lyrics will be revealed. As will the crazy music that compliment them!

See you all in January 2024 with “The Wards Outside”! Till then, we will be regularly dropping some riffs & snippets off this upcoming track for you at our insta hereunder!
