The Wards Outside (2024)
Feel free to leave us your comments on our 1st track showcasing our new Extreme Music Research direction!

Not bad man, musically speaking there’s some cool riffs in there. Not just typical power chord stuff. I can’t put my finger on who it might remind me of. Just different, kinda like CoronerRigs of Death Metal

Wow, a twelve and a half minute song – that’s ambitious from the get go! I see that Sceptocrypt are truly resurrected. I’m hearing some of your avantgarde side coming out in this material. Very free-flowing and artist craft oriented. Some of the textures remind me a bit of Misanthrope (Fr) in their early (prime) days.Heinously Yours YouTube Chnl

I like the vocals, especially the Gollum-style bits, reminds me of Devil Doll. Won’t become a metal anthem, I doubt I’ll listen enough times to get to know the song by heart, but it does have its good and very good parts.Dave Alan, Lithomancy keyboardist

There are some quirky riffs in there and it’s quite dynamic, but overall I think it’s the vocals that stand out – it’s a really eccentric performance and rather charismatic. I think with stuff like this you either have to go minimalist or you go OTT. The music mostly sits in the middle – apart from the odd bit of dissonance and sudden tempo changes it somehow feels fairly safe even though it’s clearly not trying to be.
In terms of the mood, this is evoking early Ephel Duath, and it would be really cool if you could tap into that vibe long term.

A really good song! I really like Sceptocrypt stuff in general as it takes you on a journey! Every other band is just the normal song structure and that is cool when it’s cool but it doesn’t explore where else a song can go, but you guys do!Parmahn Azad, Sanhedrin vocals & guitarist

Dunno what to say! Absolutely incredible song. Some try and sound crazy and loony but you guys have actually succeeded. It’s wonderful.
Really enjoyed the whole read too. A massive congrats on a work of art. Lyrics are on another level. It’s all on another level. Hopefully see you live sometime. Well done all! Impressed. Its 11/10

Oratorio Mortem 2 : The Unwanted Requiem (2023)
Feel free to leave us your comments on our comeback track!

It wasn’t what I was expecting, and that’s the beauty of it! Then again, that’s very much you. Beautiful homage to your mother Malc. That alone is supremely commendable!Simon Dimech, Hairy Amp, Malta

Well done on your new song ‘The Unwanted Requiem’! Great composition and playing there!! Sounding good!Sean Vukovic, Forsaken, Malta

It takes some balls to pick up a guitar and compose a requiem to honour your mother, just days after she passed away…. Brilliant piece, great music, plus love the thought behind the artwork.Emwin Mifsud, Emvin By Me, Malta

A very moving epitaphOdette Cardona, Malta

I truly enjoyed listening to it. Deep thoughts linked with harmonious classical notes Grace Stivala, Malta

Fuckin’ amazing and long extreme art. – Lord Trebor, Archean Harmony

Very atmospheric, very powerful. – Peter Coombes, tourist at a club where we played

Sublime – an enormous diversity of feels ranging from extreme desperation to the weirdest and most unexpected; cruel and enormous in ingenuity, incredible and indescribable in terms of mind!” – Rex, Victims Of Creation

Oratorio Mortem
compilation track 1997

Oratorio Mortem (compilation track 1997)
Quite precious with cared, original sound (a sort of labyrinthic perspective), good guitar playing, original with other instruments and fucking with them. A good work! – Francesca Nicoli, Ataraxia, Italy

One of the most astonishing tracks on the compilation CD” – Albert Bell, Forsaken, Nomad Son & Sacro Sanctus, Malta

Finally I had the chance to listen to one of your songs. It sounds very avant-garde!! – Kobi Farhi, Orphaned Land, Israel

One of the best – performed with extreme precision – the ‘feel’ produced on CD and live has the same ecstasy. Extremely progressive with an anticlimax “Fuck my mind” moodRex, Victims of Creation

Very good recording, also very originalLeo Stivala, Forsaken

Good modern death metal, making it one of the most original songs from the compilation CD. Good climax, and good idea of adding Maltese words Mark Sciberras

It’s a good song, I appreciated the good ideas. A Sceptocrypt classic – Sean Pollacco, Pilgrimage.

Good song with crunchy rhythms. Live version sounds betterRonnie Attard, Dea Discordia

Weird, relaxing, yet mentally disturbingJo Kerr Formosa, Norm Rejection

Poor Crows, Give ’em a Deal
rehearsal promo 1997

“Poor Crows, Give ‘Em A Deal” (rehearsal tape 1997)

Thanks a lot for everything you enclosed in the package. I have consumed it all!! It’s very difficult to tell what I felt when I heard your stuff!! There are several reasons for it. Firstly because your band has no boundaries, so it’s difficult to choose a couple of words to describe it….Your band is a hell of a fuckin’ great surprise! That’s music with art! That’s what I call intelligence! Sceptocrypt is not a Sunday picnic band! Any description will never be fair because you have touched the untouchable! You’re one of those few bands that should be heard by everybody just to prove them the true power of the underground! – Kepler, Fan

The tape is very impressive, especially considering how it was recorded. My current favorite moments are “Eyes For Fear”, especially its majestic opening chords, and the guitar solo; and the classical guitar at the start of “Oratorio Mortem”. There is one aspect of your music that I find particularly interesting from a musicological point of view: when presented with an ensemble of electric guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals, normally it is possible to hear some elements that have been derived ultimately from American black music such as blues and rock ‘n’ Roll, but I can hear no such influences in your music. This helps to give you an original sound and style of your own. I think that it is really modern European Classical music.… I am still astonished by the erudite multi-lingual lyrics and I also have a picture in my mind that live performances by the band could be accompanied by visual images projected onto a screen. The music is so expressive that it suggests different images whenever I listen to it. – Pete Farrugia, LCM/ RGT music programmer, UK

Wild Code of Reverie
debut demo 1996

“Wild Code of Reverie” (debut demo 1996)

It’s quite an emotional work (I especially like side 2 as perhaps it’s simpler to listen to even if side 1 is more atmospherical and chilling). What I saw was an abyss, something far-off and not so easily describable, a sort of tragic never-ending experience of struggle and rage, then some water thrown on it to reach something that’s not calmness but a sort of electricity, an instable psychical emotional state preceding a new explosion of struggle and pain.Francesca Nicoli, Ataraxia, Italy

I find it very interesting, very ambitious. Let me know when you do something new, all right” – Lux Occulta, Poland

Very brutal stuff! I really liked the way you guys switched from the heavy stuff to the very melodic stuff, all within the same measure of music!! I thought your vocals were perfect for the band and the drummer is excellent! You guys remind me of CYNIC melodically, but 100 times more heavy!! I really liked the music.Joey Lodes, Spooge, USA

Thanx for the long awaited demo of Sceptocrypt. Yes, I can say that I liked your music. I listen often to your demo. It’s good music and also the tape and sheet is great artwork.Thomas Sarton, Profanity, Belgium

I listened to it many times, and I must say it is good though sometimes difficult to understand and classify. But I think it is positive that you are not comparable with any other band – Trauma, Poland

Extremely progressive, mind crunching, soul devastating! – Ronald Grech, Victims of Creation

Very original. Thumbs up. Good work! Leo Stivala, Forsaken

Give me another demo, I just consumed it.Keith Fenech, Coire In Animus Gothic Organisation, Malta

A very good demo tape, especially Godless which I’m crazy about. – Mark Sciberras
