2nd guitarist Sabin joins Sceptocrypt

When Sceptocrypt co-founder met Sabin in the crowd at one of our shows, they exchanged socials (as musicians do). Little did Malcolm know that the next days he would be scrolling in admiration at the collection of riffs at https://www.instagram.com/sabin_pavel/

Malcolm being a guitar tutor by profession, it comes as no secret that if there is one instrument that one must be good at to impress him, that it is the guitar, even more so if one had to join Sceptocrypt. In fact, we were not even considering a 2nd guitarist up until we came across Sabin’s insta.

However, as most of the riffs at Sabin’s social were not leaning towards the extreme side, the question popped if there would be a fruitful musical exchange after all. But the only way to discover is to try, so try we did. Malcolm sent some songs to Sabin and both met to test the waters, before Malcolm could even mention the idea to the rest of the band.
But it went so smooth that in less than 3 meetups, Sabin had already nailed like 3 songs – being how we write, that is closer to 30 riffs than 10 🙂 – and was invited to meet the rest of the band, as a surprise!

Few rehearsals later, and he was already contributing with ideas on structure and harmonies. After all, although Malcolm did suggest ideas for 2nd guitar lines, this also came with a carte blanche to change stuff around. With a Bachelors in Popular Music Performance (BIMM Music Institute) and a Masters in Advanced Music Technology (University of West London) to his name, and working as a music producer by day, we are elated to welcome Sabin’s experience into the fold.

His debut will be on Aug 14th when we play a 55 min live set as a sextet. Expect contrapuntal harmony, atonal exchange, and syncopated off-beats matching an abundance of new melodies beefing up the Sceptocrypt sonic plateau you might already be used to.

With the fresh 2026 Sceptocrypt line-up beefed up further, Sabin looks forward to contribute to Sceptocrypt’s Extreme Music Research sound! Be there on Aug 14th to give him the welcome he deserves.
